We have a beautiful pair of Royal Doulton Burslem Vases that are Burslem Palissy Grotto Ware. They are impressed “Doulton” in the clay before fired. The decoration is so lavish, it actually winds up the side & over the top of each Vase. Each Vase has an Extremely unusual tin glazed underwater tableau display. Seashells & coral & even the sand on the bottom of the Ocean adorn these remarkable Vases. Marked Doulton impressed in the clay before firing. The Vases stand 9″ tall by aprox 7″ in dia. You just have to see them in person to see how very beautiful they are. A rarely seen example of Doulton working in the hyper realistic three dimensional Palissy style, with smooth gilded rim, that has the decoration added right over the top into the inside. There are some minor losses to the decoration. However There are no cracks, nor chips, nor repairs to any of the main body of the vases. Just a few of the flower or leaf petals have some chips. Please check out our pictures for a better visual description. The pair of Vases were made at the Doulton’s Art Pottery Studio’s.
