Royal Doulton 1892 Victorian Slater Vase Rare Shape And Colour Combo Top Quailty
Hello and welcome to splendid specimens. When it comes to find porcelain and pottery, there are not many names that are as collected as royal Dalton. As a collector there are many things that I look for and this one ticks every box. It has the makers mark, the artist, the numbering for the year it was made and last but not least it is in exceptional condition. This was made in 1892 by Royal Doulton and crafted by the artist Miss L Rawlings. The patent of the Doulton Slater was first commissioned in 1884 to denote The name of John Slater, Doulton art director. Slater was known for bringing colour and continental designs to the designer. The patent design came in An array of shapes and very particular colours. Seldom will you find this colour combination and this exceptionally beautiful shape. On the bottom of the base impressed marks including the interlocking forD design without England or the crown making this an exceptionally early piece. The artist – Rg Miss L Rawlings. 20 X 9 X 9 cm. The other thing that makes this special is the bottom of the base has a deep metallic bronze that can only be created in the glazing process. It is rare for a bronze metallic to appear. I’m sure you can see why this was a must have in my collection. It was more common to see these in a set of two, only very few were made as a single standalone, this was one of them. This vase is now 130 years old, seldom do you find 130-year-old Royal Doulton in this condition. With something so fragile they are always broken or chipped. I believe in quality over quantity, every piece in my collection is of the upmost top-quality. I believe that history needs to be appreciated and treated like a member of the family.
